To the editor: We are living at a dangerous time. We need to say no to war with Iran. We all need to ask: will the US will remain in perpetual war with countries in the Middle East? Recently, President Trump called off a military attack against Iran. He decided that killing 150 Iranians wasn't "proportionate." This was a good decision.

To the editor: Where are the real conservatives? What does it mean to be conservative anymore? Or, even a Republican? This is Trump's party now, which is why so many Republican elders are calling it quits. Sen. john McCain, an American hero, took time to make two things clear as he nears the end of his life. First, he does not want Trump anywhere near his funeral. Second, he reminded the American people that torture is not legal or moral. McCain is sounding the alarm on the current Trump nominee to run the CIA. My, how things have changed!
To the editor: Our troubled waters are about to get stormier. Trump's lawyer paid porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about their tryst. Trump's lawyer claims he paid the hush money out of his own pocket—how generous. Trump used the fake name "David Dennison" in the hush-hush document, maybe he prefers this pseudonym when he lies. If he used campaign funds to pay Stormy, President Dennison will be in even hotter water.

To the editor: Two-hundred days of disaster and future hope.
To the editor: Cops in our our country have a license to kill. In a nutshell, if a peace officer fears for his life—the officer can kill. The law requires "objective reasonableness" to shoot—as judged by a reasonable officer on the scene. This is a tough conversation. But, I strongly believe you can have great regard for law enforcement and still hold them to high standards. These are our friends and family, too.
To the editor:
Last week, the Morris Sun Tribune reported data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that we just had the hottest August on record during the past 135 years of accurate record-keeping. If you have been following global temperatures for over a decade now, you are used to hearing about new heat records each year. Why? Because burning fossil fuel creates carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide heats the planet. Too little carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and the planet freezes; too much and it heats up.
MORRIS — Last week, an editorial appeared in the Morris Sun Tribune from the Coalition for a Secure Energy Future. The editorial suggested that it's important, "to ensure that regulations don't result in a situation where extreme weather conditions put human lives at risk" because of decreased coal usage. What the editorial does not say is that the Coalition for a Secure Energy Future is a public relations and marketing program of the Lignite Energy Council Political Action Committee. Lignite is a type of coal.
