MAHNOMEN, Minn. — A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of firing 11 rounds from a pistol on Main Street in this northwestern Minnesota community. Mahnomen County sheriff's deputies and White Earth police officers responded to a report of shots fired at 8:19 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. The suspected shooter, Chase Gagnon of Mahnomen, was taken into custody without incident, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
FARGO — The U.S. Postal Service has suspended mail delivery for Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota on Wednesday, Jan. 30, because of worsening weather conditions related to Polar Vortex Jayden. Postal operations are also being suspended in Iowa, western Wisconsin and western Illinois. Retail operations at local offices will be available, but may be limited. There will be no mail pickup from businesses or collection boxes. There also won't be residential or commercial package pick-up services.
MOORHEAD - An SUV was totalled and a two-car garage appeared to be heavily damaged by a fire Saturday evening, April 7, a Moorhead Fire Department spokesman said. The fire at 414 13th St. N. was called in by a neighbor about 7:30 p.m., Assistant Fire Chief Rich Eggert said. When crews arrived on the scene, smoke was coming from the garage doors and windows and the car was ablaze in the garage, Eggert said. FRISCO, Texas -- Make it 6 for 6 for North Dakota State in Frisco. North Dakota State, behind its defense, defeated James Madison University 17-13 Saturday afternoon in the Division I FCS title game. It was the sixth crown for the Bison in seven years and restored their status as the dynasty holder in the subdivision. NDSU tied Georgia Southern for most national titles in the FCS.
MONTREAL—Former Concordia wide receiver Brandon Zylstra made his first career Canadian Football League touchdown catch Monday, Oct. 10. Zylstra, who plays for Edmonton, grabbed a 29-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter of the Eskimos' 40-20 victory against the Montreal Alouettes. Zylstra finished with six catches for 104 yards and one touchdown. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Zylstra completed his Concordia career last fall with 120 receptions for 1,932 yards and 18 touchdowns.
