Snow and high winds were already impacting Morris on the morning of Thursday, Feb. 7. The area was in a winter storm warning in the morning. A blizzard warning was issued for noon until midnight. Rae Yost/Stevens County Times

The temperature recorded at Dacotah Bank in Morris at 8:08 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30.  The National Weather Service said the region had an historic cold snap.  The NWS reported a temperature of  -32 at 8 a.m. The Polar Vortex caused bitterly cold temperatures.  A wind chill warning was in effect until noon Thursday, Jan. 31. Rae Yost/Stevens County Times
