Wrestling: Four win twice as MAHACA splits at ACGC triangular
Four Tigers went 2-0 on the day as the Morris Area / Hancock / Chokio-Alberta wrestling team split in dual action Friday, Jan. 11, at a triangular at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in Grove City. Davin Rose, Ethan Lebrija, Dalton Rose and Gideon Joos both went undefeated on the day as the Tigers beat Benson 36-33 and fell to state-ranked ACGC 42-27.
The Tigers next travel to Olivia for a triangular with BOLD and Redwood Valley on Thursday, Jan. 17.
MAHACA 36, Benson 33
The Tigers were up 24-0 with pins from Caden Rose at 106 and Dylan Rose at 113 before the Benson Braves scored their first points of the opening dual. After giving up a decision at 138, MAHACA extended its lead to 36-3 before the Braves mounted their comeback. Despite Benson winning the remaining six weights, the Braves needed at least five pins and a decision to tie and they didn't get it. MAHACA only gave up two pins in the final six weights.
Dalton Rose at 145 and Joos at 152 also had pins for the Tigers.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 42, MAHACA 27
In the final triangular of the evening, the Tigers stood tough but fell 42-27 to the Falcons of ACGC. The Tigers trailed 6-5 after giving up a pin at 106 and Davin Rose earning a tech fall over Brady Holien at 113.
The Tigers were within striking distance for much of the match, including within three points on three separate occasions. It was the forfeits at 220 and 285 pounds gave ACGC the 15-point cushion. The Falcons' largest lead prior to the 220-pound forfeit was 12 points after a pin at 132 and a decision at 138.
The Tigers had just two pins in the match. Dalton Rose pinned Jaxon Behm in 5:16 during the 145-pound match, and Brady Cardwell, who hasn't wrestled since Big Bear Dec. 15, pinned Taylor Fester in 27 seconds during the 170-pound match.
