Wrestling: Rose boys win titles at BBE Early Invite

Brothers Davin and Dalton Rose won their first wrestling tournaments of the season as the Morris Area / Hancock / Chokio-Alberta Tiger team opened the wrestling season Friday, Nov. 30, at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Early Invitational in Belgrade.

Davin began his road to the 113-pound championship with a four-minute tech fall (17-2) over Quad County’s Hunter Wilke in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Davin pinned Redwood River Valley’s Damico Arredondo in 3:37 to earn a spot in the finals where he took a major decision (12-2) over New London-Spicer’s Ty Bisek for first place.

Dalton began his 160-pound tournament with an 8-1 decision over Holdingford’s Chase Boeckman in the quarterfinals before pinning Quad County’s Jack Howard in 44 seconds in the semifinals. In the championship match, he won by injury default over Annandale/Maple Lake’s Jack Klug.

Ethan Lebrija at 120, Jed Feuchtenberger at 132 and Matt McNeill at 195 all took third in their respective weights and Brady Cardwell took fourth at 170 pounds.

As a team, the Tigers took fourth place with 122.5 points in the 11-team tournament.

The Tigers are next in action against United at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in Hancock.
