SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris women’s soccer team was eliminated the semifinals of the UMAC Tournament on Wednesday by the University of Wisconsin-Superior, 6-0. The Cougars close out the season with an overall record of 6-14-0, including a 6-8-0 record in the UMAC.

Facing the No. 1 seed in the UMAC Tournament on the road without a couple of key contributors, Minnesota Morris was faced with a tough task. The Cougars put up a good fight defensively, particularly in the first half. The Yellowjackets, however, were able to score in the 17th and 24th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

After not having a shot attempt in the first half, Minnesota Morris committed more numbers forward in the second half but UW-Superior stood firm. A second goal in the match from Annah Schussman in the 57th minute more or less clinched it for Yellowjackets as they took a three-goal lead with just a little more than half-an-hour to play.

With time ticking down, UW-Superior tacked on goals in the 78th, 84th, and 88th minutes to close it out.

Bernadette Cienik made 10 saves in the match for the Cougars. BeBe Say had the lone shot on goal for Minnesota Morris, while Sydney Lendway and Hannah Pedderson also attempted shots.
