The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta cross country teams opened the season with its annual home meet on Monday, Aug. 30, at Pomme de Terre Golf Course in Morris.
The Tiger girls did not have enough runners to place as a team. Sophomore Hailey Werk finished in third place overall out of 58 runners in the girls 5K race. Werk finished with a time of 21:58. Meredith Carrington, who did not race last year due to injury, also finished in the top 15. The senior placed 12th in 23:35.
The Tiger boys finished fifth out of 11 teams at the meet. Junior Gavin Stallman was the first Tiger to finish, crossing the finish line in 18:56, which was good for 13th place overall out of 91 runners in the boys 5K race. His time on Monday beat his season best from 2020 by over 30 seconds.
The meet at Lac qui Parle Valley was washed out due to rainy conditions Thursday, Sept. 2. Morris/C-A will next race at Holdingford Thursday, Sept. 9, at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Monday, Sept. 13, and at Little Crow Golf Course Thursday, Sept. 16, in Spicer.
