MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris track & field team has announced its 2022 outdoor schedule, beginning in late March. The Cougars will compete up to 10 times in the outdoor season, including twice in Morris.
The outdoor season begins with the Saint John’s University Early Bird on March 26 in Collegeville. The following weekend, Minnesota Morris will host the Cougar Open on April 2.
April 9 brings a return to Saint John’s for the SJU Invite, followed by the Al Cassell Open, hosted by the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, N.D. on April 14 ahead of Easter weekend.
The month of April concludes with the NSU Open in Aberdeen, S.D. on April 23 and the two-day Ron Masanz Classic in Moorhead on April 29-30.
The month of May brings the entire UMAC to Morris for the UMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 6-7. The first day of competition begins at 2 p.m. and the second day starts at 11 a.m.
Following the conference championship meet, select individuals will continue on in an effort to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Back-to-back competitions hosted by UW-La Crosse are on the docket for May 13 with the Eagle Open and May 19 with the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier.
Any individuals who qualify for the national meet will then be in action from May 26-28 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Before the outdoor season begins, the Cougars will close out the indoor season with the UND Open next weekend, the UMAC Indoor Championships the final weekend of February, a last chance meet hosted by Wartburg in early March, and the potential for individuals to compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C. on March 11-12.
