The Minnesota Morris track and field program took part in the Eagle Open Friday, May 10, hosted by UW-La Crosse.
Katherine Novak won the women's 5,000-meter run (20:48.78) and took second in the 1,500-meter run (4:50.98). Along with Novak in the 5,000-meter run, Montana Lawrence finished runner-up with her time of 20:53.04.
The women's 400-meter hurdles saw Emily Ciesynski finish first with a school record time of 1:01.71.
Brooke Hogan placed 13th in the women's 400-meter dash (1:05.59) and 17th in the 200-meter dash (27.99).
In the women's shot put, Jessica Bliese and Brennyn DePaulis placed 22nd (36-11.50) and 25th (36-0).
Sierra Paske took 21st in the women's hammer throw with her mark of 138-6.
In the women's javelin throw, Jenica Moes tallied a runner-up finish (116-4) and Adrianna Bibeau rounded out the top-10 (91-7). Moes' mark Friday improves her No. 4 standing in school history.
Tyler Sassenberg posted an 11th-place finish in the men's 5,000-meter run with his time of 15:43.42.
In the men's throws, Trent Merkins finished 16th in the men's shot put with a mark of 46-9.50 and Justin Robinson tallied a sixth-place finish in the men's javelin throw with his distance of 147-2.
The Cougars are scheduled to compete at UW-La Crosse again on Friday, May 16.
