The Hancock track and field teams recorded new season high team scores at the Benson Invitational Tuesday, April 23, in Benson. The Owl girls finished with 22 points, which doubles their previous season high team score. The Hancock boys recorded a season high 27 points at the meet.

Tyler Timmerman had the lone Owl to finish in the top three at Benson with a runner-up finish in the long jump. His mark of 19-0 was a season best for the junior.

John Kellenberger had a fourth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. It was his first time trying the hurdles this season and he finished in 45.6 seconds.

"John is going to make 300 hurdles his new thing. He ran a 45 without ever trying them before, we think it might be the event he can chop time off fast," Hancock head coach Scott Thompson said.

For the Owl girls, Jenna Kannegiesser and Eva Schaefer both placed sixth in their respective events. Kannegiesser had a season best time of 14.05 for sixth in the 100-meter dash while Schaefer had a season best mark of 28-07.5 in the triple jump.

The Owls next compete at another Benson Invite Tuesday, April 30.
