The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tiger boys basketball team went 2-0 at the Country Inn and Suites Basketball Classic in Fergus Falls.

“We got off to such good starts with our defensive pressure that both teams were both fighting up-hill from the start,” Tiger coach Mark Torgerson told KMRS/KKOK. “Our defense has really been sparking our offense.”

The No. 4-ranked Tigers remain undefeated at 9-0 and next play Breckenridge Tuesday, Jan. 4, in Morris. The Tigers also play Benson Thursday, Jan. 6, in Morris, and Hancock Saturday, Jan. 8, at UMN Morris.

Morris/C-A 83, Pine River-Backus 52

Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta shot 49 percent from the field and dominated Pine River-Backus 83-52 Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Country Inn and Suites Basketball Classic in Fergus Falls.

“We just out-manned them a little bit, number wise,” Torgerson said of Pine River-Backus, who was missing a starter in the game. “We had 17 kids in the game and that was nice… Putting up 49 points in a half, the game was pretty well in hand by halftime and that allowed a lot of other kids an opportunity to get into the game in the second half.”

Jackson Loge had 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting with eight rebounds and four blocks. Thomas Tiernan had 12 points with four assists. Cole Wente had 11 points and Durgin Decker added six with seven rebounds and four assists for the Tigers, who had 14 steals as a team and dished out 21 assists.
