Thompson, Owls cruise past Wolverines

Matt Thompson had 35 points and 20 rebounds to lead Hancock past Clinton – Graceville – Beardsley 82-57 on Monday, Feb. 14, in Graceville.

Thompson has tallied over 30 points in eight of his last nine games. The senior is averaging 32 points and 16 rebounds per game over that span.

Hudson Ver Steeg added 13 points with five steals against the Wolverines. Jackson Koehl scored 10 while Luke Joos added seven with six assists and five steals.

As a team, the Owls were 33-for-54 for 61 percent while CGB was 14-for-31 for 45 percent.

Cole Gilsdorf had a team-high 31 points for the Wolverines. Chuck Kleindl added 14 as CGB falls to 2-15.

The Owls, now 17-4, close out the week at Hillcrest Lutheran Thursday, Feb. 24 and against Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Friday, Feb. 25, in Hancock. Hancock closes out the regular season against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Friday, March 4.
