Womens Tennis: Cougars swept by St. Kate's
The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team (1-2) dropped a non-conference matchup to St. Kate's (4-2), 9-0, Friday, March 8, in St. Paul.
At No. 1 singles, Maddie Johnson fell to Bri Dorr by scores of 6-0 and 6-4, while Kate Obright was bested by Alisha Wiedmeier by scores of 6-1 and 6-0 at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Aubrey Eckstrom topped Sam Tate by scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Also in singles play, Kat Burquest lost to Maddy Knoll (6-0, 6-0), Mackenzie Burris dropped her contest to Ella Graham (6-0, 6-0) and Hannah Godzala fell to Ruth Rike (6-0, 6-0).
In doubles play, the Cougar duo Johnson/Obright lost to Dorr/Eckstrom by a score of 8-1, Tate/Burquest dropped an 8-3 decision to Wiedmeier/Knoll, and Graham/Schepper defeated Burris/Auger by a score of 8-0.
The Cougars are back in action on Thursday, March 14 in their conference opener against North Central. The match is slated for a 6 p.m. start in Lakeville, Minnesota.
