Jenna Gutterman approached a school record in the opening leg of the 800 Freestyle Relay.
ELSAH, Ill.– The University of Minnesota Morris women’s swimming & diving team finds itself in third place after the opening night of the Liberal Arts Championships at Principia College.
The four-day meet began with just one event on Wednesday; the 800 Freestyle Relay. Taking the team’s best time of the season in the 800 Free Relay and reducing it by nearly 30 seconds, the Cougar ‘A’ team of Jenna Gutterman, Lilly Radintz, Abby Doyle, and Paige Haugen finished with a time of 8:18.75 to finish in third and take 32 points. Asbury University won the event to earn 40 points with a time of 7:56.96 and Illinois Tech was second in 8:06.69.
Individual events start tomorrow with prelims of the 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, and 50 Freestyle beginning at 10 a.m. Finals get underway at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow evening.
