Softball: Hanson, Owls pierce Arrows, improve to 3-2

The Hancock softball team swept Ashby in a doubleheader Tuesday, April 23, at Wells Park in Morris. The Owls won 5-3 in game two before taking a 13-2 game two win to improve to 3-2 overall.

Freshman Carlee Hanson recorded both wins in the pitcher's circle. Between the two games, she went 3-for-6 at the plate with two RBI and hit her first varsity home run.

The Owls are scheduled to host Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley for their next game at 5 p.m. Friday, April 26, in Hancock.

Hancock 5, Ashby 3

Carlee Hanson struck out 11 for a complete game win in game one against Ashby on Tuesday, April 23, at Wells Park in Morris. She went five innings, gave up three runs on four hits and walked two.

Rylee Hanson had a big day at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a double and a pair of RBIs. Alexa Meierding also hit a double in the win.

Thanks to a 12-run third inning, Hancock completed the doubleheader sweep of Ashby on Tuesday, as the Owls won the nightcap 13-2.

Carlee Hanson was the catalyst for the Owls, going 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, including a solo home run in the top of the third that sparked the 12-run spree. C. Hanson also picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle after three innings of work.

Tori Pahl hit a triple and had three RBI as seven Owls recorded hits in the game.
