SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris women’s cross country team ended up in second place at the UMAC Championships on Saturday at the Nemadji Golf Course. The Cougars compiled 60 points on the 6k course, finishing behind the 44 points of conference champion Martin Luther College, but ahead of Bethany Lutheran College (76 points) in third place and far outpacing the rest of the conference.
Minnesota Morris had a trio of top-ten finishes on the afternoon. First across the finish line for the Cougars was Briahna Hensel in fifth place in a time of 24:50.3. Seconds later was Kaitlyn Ladwig in sixth place with a time of 24:57.8. Ilsa Hoaglund then came in 10th, clocking a 25:46.0.
The other two counting scores for Minnesota Morris came from Zoe Hoaglund in 17th place (26:52.2) and Chloe Haven in 22nd place (27:20.7). The next two runners for the Cougars drove up the scores of competing teams as McKenna Langerud finished 28th in 28:41.9 and Taylor Prieve ended in 30th place in 29:05.4.
Minnesota Morris returns to competition on Nov. 13 with the NCAA North Regionals in Colfax, Wis. beginning at 11 a.m.
