The Cougars will undertake a national search for the next head coach of cross country in the coming weeks.
MORRIS, Minn.– Ray Putnam has resigned his head coaching position with the University of Minnesota Morris men’s and women’s cross country program, effective January 3.
In his one season in charge of the cross country teams, Putnam guided the Cougars to a second-place finish in the UMAC for the women’s program and a third-place finish for the men’s team. Three members of each team were awarded All-UMAC First or Second Team accolades at the conclusion of the UMAC Championships.
The UMN Morris athletic department will soon begin a national search for Putnam’s replacement, which also has duties as a track & field assistant coach. The indoor track & field season resumes for the Cougars on Jan. 22 with the Cobber Open in Moorhead.
