Owls drop two, bounce back with win over CGB

The Hancock Owl volleyball team dropped two five-setters back-to-back last week. The Owls fell to Brandon-Evansville Monday, Oct. 11 and Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The Owls, who took a five-set victory over CGB Saturday and are now 7-9, play at Hillcrest Lutheran Monday, Oct. 18, in Fergus Falls and will close out the regular season against West Central Area Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Hancock.

Section 6A volleyball playoffs are scheduled to open Oct. 25.

Against CGB, the Owls won 26-24, 19-25, 25-19, 15-25, 15-12. Rylee and Carlee Hanson combined for 32 kills to lead Hancock. Alexa Meierding added nine kills. Carlee Hanson added four ace serves while Karleigh Rohloff and Tori Pahl both had three apiece.

Defensively, Pahl and Misti Zempel had three blocks each. Five Owls had over 10 digs led by Rylee Hanson, who finished with 23. Carlee Hanson added 20, Zempel had 16, Rohloff finished with 14 and Pahl had 13.
