Morris Junior Legion cruised to North Central Sub-State Championship

After beating Kerkhoven in the playoff opener, the Morris Junior Legion baseball team beat No. 3-seeded New London-Spicer and upset top-seeded Starbuck to earn a spot in the championship.

Morris played in the championship July 30, at BOLD. Results will be published in the Aug. 8 Stevens County Times.

Drew Huebner struck out 16 batters in a complete game effort as No. 2 Morris defeated No. 3 New London-Spicer 6-1 in the second round of the Junior Legion North Central Sub-State Tournament Friday, July 22, at Chizek Field in Morris.

Huebner allowed an unearned run on just two hits while walking two. He added an RBI double at the plate in the third inning as well.

Ozzy Jerome had two hits and two RBIs to lead Morris. Johnny Kleindl added an RBI hit, and Riley Asmus scored two runs.
