ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men’s track & field team had six individuals named All-UMAC on Tuesday. All-UMAC honors went to those finishing in the top two of an individual event or with a victory in a relay race.
Petersen unleashed a throw of 163-1 (49.72 meters) in the hammer throw to win by nearly 20 feet. In the shot put, Nye recorded a distance of 49-7.00 (15.11 meters) to finish second. Both Petersen and Nye set school records in those respective events earlier this season.
In the 4 x 800 Meter Relay, the team of Peterson, Larsen, Knopp, and Shackelford won by more than five seconds with a time of 8:14.89.
The UMAC also recognizes one member of each team with a Sportsmanship Award. This year’s honoree from Minnesota Morris is Conor Thornbrugh.
Minnesota Morris continues its season on Friday with a trip to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for the Eagle Open beginning at 3 p.m.
