The Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta / West Central Area girls tennis team opened the 2020 season against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Monday, Aug. 24, in Morris. The Tigers first week of practice went well and the team grew daily, head coach Britney House said.

“We keep getting new girls as the week goes on, but as of (midweek last week) we had 13 on varsity and 19 on JV,” House said.

House is back at the helm after a year off after giving birth to her first child last fall.

“I am so happy to be back with my coaches and players. We all have such a great time together.  I really have the best girls! They are kind, hardworking, coach-able, and responsible. My husband is ready to step up parenting this fall when I am at practices and meets,” House said.

House has had to implement new guidelines per the MSHSL rules regarding COVID-19. Those guidelines include social distancing, sanitizing when entering and exiting the courts, using their own initialed balls for serving and self-feeding drills at practice and being required to wear masks on the bus to road meets and no sharing of anything. There is a 2.5-page list of requirements to follow for competition, pre- and post-competition, and practice on the MSHSL website.
