Senior Jackson Loge opened his fifth and final season on varsity in dominant fashion, leading the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta boys basketball team to a 60-37 season opening victory over Lac qui Parle Valley Thursday, Dec. 2, in Madison.
Loge had 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting and 17 rebounds to help the Tiger defense put together a strong game in the opener.
The Tigers held the Eagles to just 3-for-32 shooting in the first half, which helped them build a 21-9 halftime lead. That lead grew to as much as 27 in the second half.
The Tiger defense held the Eagles to just 22 percent shooting for the game.
Thomas Tiernan hit four threes and finished with 18 points, connecting on 7-of-13 shots.
Durgin Decker, Tyler Berlinger and Cole Wente all added six points each. Wente shot at a team-best 67 percent clip and went 2-for-2 from three-point-range. Decker grabbed eight rebounds while Brandon Jergenson dished out five assists.
The Tiger boys played Paynesville Friday, Dec. 3 and next travel to New London-Spicer Tuesday, Dec. 7 before opening the home season against Litchfield Thursday, Dec. 9, in Morris. The Tigers will play Blake Saturday, Dec. 11, in Hopkins to end the week. Next week, MACA hosts West Central Area Friday, Dec. 17.
