The Morris Area / Hancock / Chokio-Alberta Tiger gymnastics program competed at the Section 8A gymnastics meet on Saturday, Feb. 17 in Perham. Detroit Lakes won the meet and earned a trip to the Class A state meet with 152.375 points. The Tigers took seventh out of eight teams beating Little Falls 0.2 points.

Overall the Tigers had five new personal bests on the day. Greta Schaefer set a new personal best on the bars, Madelyn Siegel on vault, Olivia Lebrija on floor, and Callie Snell on bars and floor. The Tigers set a new season high on the floor as a team as well.

It was announced that MAHACA was named the Section 8A Academic Team Champion for the 2017-2018 season. The Tigers, who won Class A Academic Team Champion in 2015 and 2016, achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.915 for this season.

Jodi Snell also received special recognition as she was named Section 8A Assistant Coach of the Year.

The Tigers gymnastics program graduates four: Reegan Sletten, Kate Giese, Kali Berlinger, and Shannon Kill.
