With the retirement of Morris/Minnewaska girls swim and dive head coach Linda Hoffmann, the Gators will have a new staff at the helm in the 2021 season. Assistant coach Anita Nelson has assumed the head coaching role for 2021. Kathy Walker returns as the diving coach, and Sam Oellien is the new assistant coach in Morris while Ruth Schaefer and Summer Spence are new assistant coaches in Minnewaska.

Full story in Aug. 31 edition of the Stevens County Times.

The Gators graduated 10 seniors last spring, so numbers are down slightly as expected, Gator coach Anita Nelson said.

“The program numbers are a bit lower than they have been in the last 5 years or so, but that is also to be expected when we graduate that large of a class,” Nelson said. “I don’t think we will see a major decline in our numbers. We are holding pretty steady in the 55-60 range.”

The Gators opened the season at Willmar Friday, Aug. 27 and will compete at Litchfield Tuesday, Aug. 31. The Gators will open the home season against Montevidoe on Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Regional Fitness Center in Morris.
