Riley Decker, Morris native and Morris Area Class of 2019 graduate, was one of 53 student-athletes selected to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the fall athletic season announced Nov. 18.

Within the conference, 769 student-athletes have earned NSIC All-Academic honors for the 2020 fall athletic season; 437 student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, while 332 earned NSIC All-Academic Team honors.

To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher.

Decker and six other teammates were a NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence selection. Eight members of the Golden Bears volleyball team were named all-academic this fall.

This pandemic has been tough on Decker, who is a very social person.

“There have been struggles as I do love to socialize and be around people,” Decker said in an interview with the Stevens County Times. “However, I am learning how to be more adaptable. I know this isn’t a fun time for anyone. I have been fortunate enough not to have the virus.”
