The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference released its men’s cross country preseason coaches poll Thursday, Aug. 22 and the University of Minnesota Morris was selected to finish third among UMAC competitors this season.
According to the poll, St. Scholastica holds a one-point edge to win the UMAC title over runner-up Wisconsin Superior. However, the Yellowjackets had five first-place votes compared to St. Scholastica’s four first-place votes.
Minnesota Morris should have another solid team outing with the return of All-UMAC performers Ryan Anderson and Benjamin Barnack. Anderson placed second overall behind Boedigheimer last fall and should be the team's lead runner. Barnack took 13th overall, while fellow senior Ray Abraham also brings experience after finishing 18th a year ago.
UMM opens the regular season at UW-Superior Thursday, Sept. 3.
