The track & field team received school-record performances from Jenica Moes and Luke Petersen on Friday.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris track & field team again swept the weekly UMAC Field awards with seniorsJenica MoesandLuke Petersenwinning the honors.
At the Saint John’s Last Minute Invitational on Friday evening, both Moes and Petersen broke school records. Moes unleashed a throw of 135-10 (41.42 meters) in the discus to break a record that had stood since 2007. She also added a runner-up finish in the javelin with a distance of 118-7 (36.16 meters). Heading into the UMAC Championships, Moes leads the conference in both of those events.
For Petersen, the school record came in the hammer throw with a distance of 166-5 (50.73 meters) to win the event, while adding a throw of 133-1 (40.58 meters) in the discus that ranks seventh all-time in program history.
Moes and Petersen are just two of the Cougars who will lead the UMN Morris programs into this weekend’s UMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships here in Morris. Action begins at 2 p.m. on Friday and again at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
