Orioles are the 2012 Morris Little League champions

The Orioles beat the Brewers twice to win the 2021 Little League championship Friday, July 16, at Wells Park in Morris. The Orioles beat the Brewers 4-3 in seven innings in game one and 15-3 in game two to claim the title.

Pizza Ranch comes back to win MACE Elementary Softball league

The Pizza Ranch team was the 2021 Morris Area Community Education Elementary Softball champions after beating Riverview in the winner-take-all game Wednesday, July 14, at Holmberg Field in Morris.

Riverview won the first game 7-3 but Pizza Ranch won the second game 6-2 to claim the title. Pizza Ranch includes (front, left) Adelyn Ferrian, Braelyn Logan, Ella Blume, Madalyn Pope, (back, left) coach Rob Jergenson, Brenna Jergenson, Coach DeVries, Tessa Hennessy, Abigail Anderson, Addison Smith, Marissa DeVries, coach Kevin Pope, and not pictured Haley Lucas, coach Rob Lucas and Xiang Rothchild.

Orange holds off Green for title 2021 Morris Babe Ruth league

Orange scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead and held off Green in the seventh for an 11-9 victory in the Babe Ruth championship on Thursday from Chizek Field.

Orange hadn’t lost a game all season but found themselves down 8-6 with six outs remaining when they rallied. Riley Asmus highlighted the inning with the go-ahead RBI single.

It looked like Orange might run away with it early, building up a 6-2 lead before Green plated four runs in the fourth, then took the lead with a two-run sixth. After falling behind they would bring the tying run to the plate in the seventh but Orange was able to hang on for the win to complete the 11-0 season.

Asmus and Joseph Sanchez-Penalta each finished with two hits and two RBI, Kaleb Breuer had two hits with a double and two runs scored, Logan Anderson added an RBI single. Alex Claussen pitched four innings for the win.

Owen Anderson was 3-4 with a double, walk, RBI and three runs for Green. Johnny Kleindl belted three doubles and picked up three RBI, Jackson Hallman drove in two.

Hallman struck out seven over five innings, Kleindl took the loss in relief as the Green went 8-5.

The Orange team included Riley Asmus, Joseph Sanchez, Cyrus Wellnitz , Brody Nachbor, Logan Anderson, Alex Claussen, Emerson Reuter, Jack Storlien, Zander Doschadis, Kaleb Breuer, Donovan Curfman, and Cowen Mortenson. Orange was coached by Jason Breuer, Jeff Nachbor and Jarrod Asmus.
