After being inducted into the University of Minnesota Morris Cougar Athletics Hall of Fame as a player this past September, Tom Beyer will now enter the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for his career as a coach.
Beyer joins eight others being inducted into the Minnesota chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on April 25, in Austin.
Beyer was UMN Morris’ first National Champion before a “very successful 26-year coaching career at Willmar Senior High School,” the news release said.
Beyer coached the Cardinals to 228 career wins with two state tournament teams, eight state finalists of which six were individual state champions.
Beyer also coached at Ridgewater Community College for seven years and produced several All Americans. His teams won MCC Junior College State and Regional championships.
