Girls Basketball: Two all-conference, one honorable mention for Owls

The Hancock Owl girls basketball team had three players earn recognition by the Pheasant Conference this season.

Freshmen Carlee and Rylee Hanson earned all-conference status for the first time in their careers while sophomore Alexis Staples was named honorable mention for the second time. The trio led the scoring attack for the Owls this season.

Carlee Hanson led the Owls in scoring, averaging 9.9 points per game. She finished with 237 points for a two-year career total of 245 points and shot a 40.7 percent clip from the floor, including a team-high 30.8 percent from three-point range.

Rylee Hanson finished the year averaging 9.5 points per game and team-high 6.7 rebounds per game. She scored 227 points this season for a two-year career total 299 points. She also led the team in shooting percentage, finishing the year shooting at a 42.7 percent clip.

Staples averaged 9.7 points per game this season, second-highest on the team, and collected team-high 2.3 steals per game. She also dished out 1.9 assists per game, second-most on the team to Morgan Kisgen (2.3). Staples has accumulated a three-year career total of 454 points.

The Owls finished fifth in the Pheasant Conference with a conference record of 4-8 and overall record of 12-12. They graduate Haley Mattson and Taylor Wilson off the roster this spring.
