Boys Basketball: Loge lights it up, Arndt reaches 1K, Tigers win (with video)
Freshman Jackson Loge dropped a career high 34 points to lead the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tiger boys basketball team to a non-conference victory over West Central Area, 78-56, Saturday, Feb. 2, at the University of Minnesota Morris in Morris.
Loge went 12-for-15 from the floor in the game.
"Scoring all that was great, but the assists we're getting from (Loge) are big," Morris/C-A coach Mark Torgerson said of his teams play. "I thought defense was key today because they have a lot of good three-point scorers and we held them down pretty well."
The Knights went just 2-for-15 from three-point range and shot 31 percent for the game compared to Morris/C-A's 55 percent shooting and 4-for-7 from three-point range.
"It seems Morris is always up to play us and they shot the ball better than they have all year," WCA coach Kraig Hunter said. "They have a lot of size and players with physicality. We got out physicaled in every aspect."
Coming into the game, senior Camden Arndt was 12 points away from a milestone 1,000 career points. He had 13 points, all in the first half, to reach the milestone.
"The fact that he did it on the kind of shot he did was cool," Morris/C-A coach Mark Torgerson said of Arndt, who recorded his 1,000th point with a kiss off the glass shot as he was fading sideways. Watch video of the shot here.
The Tigers, who are the winners of three straight, next play host to Minnewaska Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Morris.
