An early 3-0 lead was enough for Osakis, taking a 7-4 victory over the Morris American Legion baseball team Monday, July 1, at Chizek Field in Morris.

Osakis extended its lead to 6-0 after a three-run fourth inning. Morris was able to finally get on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the frame thanks to a Chandler Wilts single, which scored Jordan Leuthardt from second base.

With Osakis leading 7-1, Morris begin its comeback in the bottom of the seventh. After a fielding error allowed Bradley Rohloff to reach and a single by Jack Riley, Zach Bruns connected on a hard grounder to score Rohloff. Another single, this time by Cade Fehr, put both Riley and Bruns in scoring position at third and second, respectively. A sacrifice fly by Kevin Asfeld scored Riley and Leuthardt came through with an RBI single to score Bruns, but a strikeout with the bases loaded would end the game.

Bruns, Fehr and Wilts all had two hits each in the game.

Next week, Morris, now 3-7, will travel to Glenwood for a 7 p.m. first pitch Monday, July 8 before hosting Wheaton Thursday, July 11, in Morris.
