Baseball: Breuer hits walk-off in win for Morris junior legion

A walk-off double by Will Breuer scored Zach Bruns to give the Morris junior legion baseball team a 5-4 victory over Starbuck Friday, June 14, in Morris.

Morris never in the game, but came back to tie it on two separate occasions. Starbuck scored on a double and a sac fly to go up 2-0 in the second inning. Morris tied the game with a two-RBI double by Breuer in the bottom of the third inning. Starbuck quickly responded with two runs in the top of fourth on a single and fielder’s choice to retake the lead, 4-2. But Morris, again, came back to tie the game at 4-4 with a RBI double by Bruns, who scored on a passed ball later in the fifth inning.

The game remained tied at 4-4 until the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Bruns singled for Morris. He scored from first on a double by Breuer for the walk-off win.

Brandon Jergenson and Bruns both went 3-for-4 in the game. Breuer had three RBI on his two doubles.

Morris improved to 2-1 on the season and next travel to Willmar Tuesday, June 18 before hosting the first annual wood bat tournament Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23, in Morris.
