Two runs in the seventh inning gave Benson a 5-4 victory over the Morris junior legion baseball team in Morris’ season opener Friday, June 7, in Morris.

Morris scored first, taking a 2-0 lead after the first inning. A double by Will Bruer scored Zach Bruns then Tristan Raths scored on a wild pitch two batters later.

Benson would tie the game on a two-RBI double by Cole Hedman in the fourth before taking the lead on an error in the inning. That lead was short-lived as Morris answered with a two-out, two-RBI triple by Zach Bruns to go up 4-3.

In the seventh, an error allowed Benson to tie the game at 4-4 with the game-winning run sitting at third. Sam Grussing came through with the game-winning RBI to score Patrick Minchow, giving Benson the win.

Riley Reimers was 2-for-3 in the game to lead Morris at the plate.
