Senior Blaise Fairbanks and junior Joe Wehr were named to the First Team All-UMAC while three other Cougar baseball players were honored with postseason baseball awards as announced by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference office Tuesday, May 14.
Fairbanks and Wehr were tabbed with First Team All-UMAC honors, Michael Head and Mack O'Neil were named UMAC Honorable Mention, and Thomas Eckstein represented Minnesota Morris on the Sportsmanship Award list.
Fairbanks, a senior first baseman, finished fourth in the UMAC in batting average with a mark of .410. In 2019, Fairbanks played in 28 games, which included 26 starts, tallied 41 hits, hit four home runs, eight doubles, and drove in 30 runs.
Wehr, a junior pitcher, pitched 34.2 innings, struck out 42 batters, allowed just 12 walks and 14 earned runs. On the year, Wehr finished with a record of 3-2 and tallied one save.
O'Neil, a sophomore outfielder, appeared in 29 games, which included 27 starts. In 2019, O'Neil hit .340, drove in 17 runs, drew five walks, recorded 34 hits, which included six doubles.
Head, a junior pitcher, pitched 39.0 innings in 2019. On the year, Head struck out 32 batters and allowed 18 walks.
Eckstein, a senior pitcher/outfielder, appeared in the UM-Morris batting lineup 24 times and pitched 22.1 innings. On the mound for the Cougars, Eckstein struck out 11 batters and walked just six batters.
