No. 3 Morris squeaked out a 1-0 win over No. 6 Hancock in a 15-inning marathon in the Region 9C playoff opener Friday, July 26, in Madison. Tyler Henrichs hit a sacrifice fly to score the lone run of the game and give the Morris Eagles the 1-0 edge over the Hancock Orphans in the bottom of the 15th inning.
Morris was slated to play No. 2 Minneota Sunday, July 28, but that game was postponed due to rain. It's scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, in Dawson.
No. 4 Chokio also won its playoff opener with a 12-6 victory over No. 5 Cottonwood Saturday, July 27, in Madison. Like Morris, the Coyotes were scheduled to play Sunday, but games were postponed. Chokio will play Dumont at 7:30 p.m. Friday, in Madison.
No. 1 Dumont beat No. 8 Clinton 4-3 and No. 2 Minneota beat No. 7 Dawson 4-1 in other Region 9C action Saturday, in Madison.
Clinton and Cottonwood play an elimination game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, in Rosen. Dawson will take on the Hancock Orphans in another elimination game at 4 p.m. Saturday, in Rosen.
The winners of Chokio/Dumont and Morris/Minneota are scheduled play at 11 a.m. Saturday, in Rosen.
