Most would think that sweeping the second-best softball team in the West Central Conference would all but shore up a sixth straight conference title for the top team in the conference, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta, but Tiger coach Mary Holmberg isn't celebrating just yet.
"All I know is that we have to play three more (conference) games this week," Holmberg told KMRS-KKOK Sports Director Brett Miller after the Tigers swept the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters Monday, May 13, in Sauk Centre. "If there's a tie or anything, we'll win it straight out, and that's our goal. I don't think about that yet because we're not done. We have unfinished business."
The Tigers, now 15-1 overall and 11-0 in conference play, close out the conference season with three more games this week. They play host to Benson at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, in Morris then host Minnewaska Thursday, May 16 before traveling to Montevideo Friday, May 17. If the Tigers win all three games, it will be the first time since 2015 that Morris/C-A won the conference with an undefeated conference record.
