A five-run fourth inning brought the score within one run, but the Hancock Owl softball team couldn't take the lead, falling to Brandon-Evansville 14-9 Tuesday, May 7, in Hancock.

The Chargers led 9-3 heading into the fourth where the Owls scored four runs to close the gap to 9-8. Alexis Staples, Morgan Kisgen, and Lindsey Mattson all stole home, and Alexa Meierding scored on a passed ball. Rylee Hanson recorded the lone RBI of the inning with her two-out hit to right field, which scored Haley Mattson.

Hanson was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs while Tori Pahl and Staples both had two hits and two RBIs.

The Owls fall to 3-8 on the year and next play a doubleheader at Hillcrest Lutheran Thursday, May 9, in Fergus Falls.
