Morris Area/Hancock/Chokio-Alberta 113-pounder, and eighth-grader, Davin Rose went 2-2 in his first appearance at the Class AA State Wrestling Tournament Friday, March 1, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

In the opening round, Rose took a 6-3 decision over Will Nihart of South St. Paul.

In the quarterfinals, he lost by tech fall to Joey Thompson of Totino-Grace 17-2 in 4:03. Thompson, a junior, was the No. 1-ranked wrestler at 113 pounds coming into the tournament.

In the consolation round, he took a 5-2 decision over Blaze Brady of Perham. According to theguillotine.com rankings, Brady was the No. 8-ranked wrestler at 113 pounds.

Rose was eliminated from the tournament by Austin Gabbert of Watertown-Mayer by 7-2 decision. Gabbert was ranked No. 6 at 113 pounds, according to the Feb. 21 theguillotine.com rankings.

Rose ended the season 34-9 overall, which brings his two-year career total to 55-28.
