The No. 7 Hancock Owl girls basketball team way able to pull away within the final 90 seconds on its way to a 56-48 win over No. 10 Battle Lake in the Section 6A-South pigtail game Monday, Feb. 25, in Hancock.

Senior Haley Mattson scored 17 points, just ahead of freshman Carlee Hanson's 16 points to contribute for the Owls, who trailed by one at halftime.

Allison Marso canned five triples and scored 20 points to lead Battle Lake, but her team couldn't hang on to their modest lead. Battle Lake ends the season 6-20.

The Owls, now 12-11 on the year, will take on No. 2 West Central Area in the Section 6A-South quarterfinals Thursday, Feb. 28, in Barrett. No. 8 Ortonville beat No. 9 Ashby 73-70 in the other subsection pigtail. The Trojans will take on No. 1 Parkers Prairie Thursday, in Parkers Prairie.
