The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team opened its 2019 season with a 9-0 loss to the College of Saint Benedict Friday, Feb. 22, in Sartell.

In singles competition, Maddie Johnson lost to Tessa Rahrick (6-1, 6-1), Kate Obright fell to Kayla Mciver (6-1, 6-0), Lily Fredricks defeated Sam Tate (6-1, 6-0), Erin Kolbow topped Mackenzie Burris (6-1, 6-0), Mackenzie Schurhamer bested Katie Auger (6-0, 6-0) and Abby Kaluza defeated Hannah Godzala (6-0, 6-0).

The Cougars (0-1) fell to the Blazers (3-0) 8-0 in each of the three doubles competitions. Mciver/Fredericks defeated Johnson/Obright, Rahrick/Kolbow topped Tate/Burris and Schurhamer/Karsen Aune bested Auger/Godzala.

Minnesota Morris is back in action against Simpson College and Crown College on Saturday, March 2, in Lakeville.
