Kolby Goff scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Brady Goff as Morris Benson Area rebounded from a two-goal deficit and defeated Mayville-Portland Area of North Dakota in overtime on Saturday, Jan 26, at the Lee Community Center in Morris.
MayPort scored three unanswered goals after the Storm's Hunter Blume opened the scoring with a short-handed goal at 8:25 of the first period. Down 3-1 entering the third, MBA's Mathew Tolifson and Jack Riley scored to knot the game 3-3.
MayPort pounded the net from the onset, outshooting the Storm 34-17 in the first two periods. But MBA goalie Chad Engebretson weathered the early barrage, turning away 31 of those shots. He then stopped all 13 May-Port chances in the third period and overtime, finishing with 44 saves.
The Storm is scheduled to host Red Lake Falls Friday, Feb. 1, in Benson, then travel to Worthington for a girls/boys doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 2, in Worthington.
