Eighth-grader Davin Rose was the lone Morris Area / Hancock / Chokio-Alberta wrestler to place at the Big Bear Invitational Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15, at Cass Lake-Bena High School in Cass Lake.

Rose took fourth in the 113-pound tournament by going 4-2 in the two-day event. Rose started his tournament with two pins. He pinned Nolan Campbell of Virginia in 1:23 then pinned Austin Hughes of New York Mills in 3:15. In the quarterfinals, Rose pinned Trevor Michienzi of Deer River in 5:00 before falling by 1-0 decision in the semifinals to Zach Brown of Crookston. In the consolation semifinals, Rose won by fall over TJ Jasicki of United North Central in 0:35 before falling by 4-3 decision in the third-place match to a familiar opponent in Easton McCrory of Minnewaska.

Ethan Lebrija at 120, Gideon Joos at 152 and Brady Cardwell at 160 all had three wins in the tournament. Jed Feuchtenberger at 132 and Dalton Rose at 145 both had two wins as the Tigers finished 21st overall as a team.

The Tigers next compete at a triangular against Minnewaska and West Central Area / Ashby-Brandon-Evansville at 5 p.m Friday, Dec. 21, in Glenwood.
