Sophomore Tristan Raths pinned Dawson-Boyd / Lac Qui Parle / Montevideo United’s Stone Irvine to seal the win for Morris Area / Hancock /  Chokio-Alberta, 44-29, in the dual opener Thursday, Dec. 6, in Hancock.

Raths got a two-point takedown in the first period then an escape point and another takedown in the second to go ahead 5-0 before pinning Irvine in 2:52. Rath’s pin secured the win by giving MAHACA a 38-16 advantage with three weights left to wrestle. Had the Tigers lost those final three weights, MAHACA still would have came out victorious 38-34.

In total, the Tigers had six pins in the match and two major decisions to help lift them to victory over a strong West Central Conference and Section 3AA-North opponent.

Dylan Rose at 113, Davin Rose at 120, Dalton Rose at 152, Gideon Joos at 160, Raths at 182 and Matt McNeill at 195 all won by fall. Ethan Lebrija at 126 and Jed Feuchtenberger at 132 both won by major decision.

Davin and Dalton Rose are both 4-0 to start the season.

The Tigers next compete at the Grant County Invitational Saturday, Dec. 8, in Barrett.
