It wasn’t an unexpected result, but even the Marshall Tigers may have been surprised by their dominance in the Section 3AA volleyball championship match on Saturday, Nov. 3, in Marshall. Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta pushed back to make the first set close after falling behind early, but Marshall allowed just 19 points the rest of the way for a 25-21, 25-13, 25-6 victory, at Southwest Minnesota State.

Marshall improved to 27-5 and advanced to the Minnesota State Volleyball Tournament for the 28th time since 1977. The Tigers placed fourth at the 2017 state tournament, and they have won six state titles and were the state runner-up six times.

Morris/C-A had just 13 team kills and four solo blocks. Sophie Carlson led Morris/C-A with four kills and two clocks, Lexi Pew had three kills and Kenzie Hockel, Emma Berlinger and Bailey Marty all had two. Riley Decker and Marty did their best defensively to keep MACA's state tournament hopes alive with 20 and 15 digs, respectively.

Morris/C-A finished the season 19-8 overall.
