The Minnesota Morris men's and women's golf teams competed against Martin Luther in a dual event at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake, Minn. The Cougar women topped the Knights 382-471 while the Cougar men fell 311-386.

First-year golfer Payton Sierra was again the Cougars' low-round scorer on the afternoon as her score of 83 bested the field. Teammate Meghan Foley carded an 88 for second place. Brynn Combs came in fifth place overall with a 104. Trinity Erickson (107) and Destiny Garcia (114) rounded out the Cougar scoring.

On the men's side, Orion Collins was UMM's top golfer as his runner-up score of 76 was three shots behind Martin Luther's Stephen Biebert. Also competing for the Cougar men were Trent Jerome (96), Mitch Baumann (106), McKinley Johnson (108), and Michael Head (111).

The men's team competed Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Spartan Invite in Fergus Falls and took third. Fergus Falls had two teams competiting. Kyle Och tied for fourth overall with an 80, eight over par. Trent Jerome (91), Mitch Baumann (104), Noah Grove (106), and Dillon McNally (128) also competed for UMM.

Both teams next compete at the North Central Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Falcon Heights.
