The Minnesota Morris women's golf team opened the 2018 season in strong fashion with a second place performance at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Preview event Thursday, Sept. 6, at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker. St. Scholastica won the team event. Minnesota Morris's score of 410 was 10 ahead of UW-Superior for the runner-up position.

Two Cougars placed in the top 10 to aide their second place team standing. Newcomer Payton Sierra was just four shots off the lead with a score of 95, good for a tie for seventh place. Senior Meghan Foley was two shots behind Sierra with a 97, good for a tie for ninth. Kaya Quinn was the third best Cougar on the day with a score of 106, good for a tie for 13th. Rounding out the Cougars squad were Trinity Erickson (110), Brittany Lormis (112), Brynn Combs(114), and Destiny Garcia (119).

Minnesota Morris next competes Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9 at the Cobber Invite at Wildflower Golf Club in Detroit Lakes.
