To the editor:
Wow. What kind of mess is our medical system in? With government, insurance companies, drug companies, etc. running the medical field, do we need doctors, nurses, all the medical staff? Their hands are tied due to rules, regulations and so on. Why do we wonder when they see us 'cotton heads' (elderly) walk in the door--they say-- 'well, you have to die from something!"
Now to the further crux of my disillusionment, frustration, anger and yes, disappointment. While we're fortunate to have two excellent medical facilities in our small town of Morris, how much better could it be if our medical staffs/facilities could leave their egos at home? From the Hippocratic Oath: "I will not be ashamed to say 'I know not, nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery."
They could join forces, cooperate, confer, share their best and our area could have the "best of the best." If all would shed some pride and join forces we could have our own little St. Cloud/CentraCare, or Abbott or Sanford, etc.
Think about the proverb of "pride goeth before the fall." And Proverbs 16:18-20: "Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud. He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he."
