
Pray do tell. How long should we “set aside” a vile, racist “opinion,” assume it is held by only “one person,” and focus instead “on the sportsmanship of the larger population?” At the very least, the courageous guest commentary by Morris High School student Lakia Manska in last week’s Stevens County Times suggests a simple “set aside” may not be sufficient.
While walking backwards into tomorrow may be a convenient path for some, in the words of now deceased singer/song-writer Nanci Griffth, “It’s not a convenient time.”
