A private family and extended Sauter/Wente visitation for Marjorie Sauter of Morris, Minnesota will be Friday, July 30, 2021 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Morris, limited to Marjorie’s children and grandchildren.

Marjorie Marcella Wente, daughter of Albert and Irene (Rohloff) Wente, was born October 27, 1926 in Swift County, Minnesota.  She grew up on the family farm and attended country school.  Following her schooling, Marjorie helped on the family farm and worked as a housekeeper and then as a waitress in Morris.  While working as a waitress at a local restaurant in Morris, Willie Sauter came in for a piece of pie and asked Marjorie out on a date.  The couple began dating and were married on September 22, 1949.  They made their home on a farm outside of Alberta and then outside of Morris, where they raised their family of nine children. In 1975, Marjorie and Willie moved to Morris, where Marjorie worked at SCMC.  After both Marjorie and Willie retired, they became snowbirds in Mission, Texas.  In 2015, Marjorie and Willie moved to Skyview in Morris.  Marjorie spent her final two years at  West Wind Village.

Marjorie and Willie, during their 72 years of marriage, were inseparable; enjoying winters in Texas and summers at the lake with their children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing cards and every visit with her grandchildren…that was a perfect day! She took the time to embroider every square and quilt a bedspread for all nine of her children.  Everyone will miss her molasses cookies, banana bread and her countless family gatherings for the holidays.  Marjorie was a life member of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Marjorie passed away Monday, July 19, 2021 at West Wind Village in Morris.  She was 94 years old.

She is survived by four sons: Darrel (Janet) Sauter of Ocoee, FL, Steven (Jan) Sauter of Morris, Don (Pat) Sauter of Victoria and Alan (Tina) Sauter of McKinney, TX; four daughters: Betty Sauter of Blaine, Joan (George) Grage of Sheldon, ND, Wendy (Bruce) Flatt of Sheldon, ND and Jeanne (Jeff) Esser of White Bear Lake; son-in-law: Jim (Shari) Jensen of Wheatland, ND; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; five sisters-in-law: Joan Wente of Benson, Lorraine Woolridge, Deloris Koplin and Carol Woolridge all of Morris and Rosie Juergenson of Sun City, AZ and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie; daughter, Elaine Jensen; sister: Florence Nelson and brother: Milton Wente.
